SOLAR CELLS

A solar cell or photovoltaic cell is a large area electronic device that converts solar energy into electricity by the photovoltaic effect. Photovoltaics is the field of technology and research related to the application of solar cells for solar energy. Sometimes the term solar cell is reserved for devices intended specifically to capture energy from sunlight, while the term photovoltaic cell is used when the source is unspecified. Assemblies of cells are used to make solar modules, or photovoltaic arrays.

SOLAR PANELS

Solar panels, or so called arrays of photvoltaic cells, make use of renewable energy from the sun, and are a clean and environmentally means of collecting solar energy. The solar panel is different from solar thermal collectors which use the sun's energy to heat water or another fluid such as oil or antifreeze. In the field of photovoltaics, a photovoltaic panel (solar panel) or photovoltaic panel is a packaged interconnected assembly of photovoltaic cells, also known as solar cells. An installation of photovoltaic panels or modules is known as a photovoltaic array. Photovoltaic cells typically require protection from the environment, by which the solar panel can offer an EVA protection. (ref. wikipedia)
